Scientific Maps is a four piece (and oftentimes two-piece) band from Albany, N.Y. The Maps began in 2003 and has released two full length albums titled Get Off the Moon and Hold On Whoever You Are, is soon to release the E.P. Galvanic Wizardy, and is nearing completion of a third album named Food for Witches. They have played with bands such as of Montreal, Akron/Family and the Hold Steady. In 2006 Metroland voted Scientific Maps "BEST POP BAND" in the Capital Region and in 2008 Aaron Smith was named "BEST MALE SONGWRITER". With songs reflecting influences as varied as the supernatural and crypto-zoological to British invasion to Sherlock Holmes to Elephant 6 and then back to the supernatural, they are gaining more friends and fans at each performance and are ready to play for more.

Hold On Whoever You Are(2009)
all the songs tell a little piece of a story and they are meant to be listened to in succession. it’s a story told by a not very likable fellow named ‘yarrow paisley’ and it contains his imprisonment, hateful haunting, and lucky escape, among many other things. all instruments and sounds were recorded by me…although i had a little help from the band ‘the bitter knives’ and even ‘drug mummy and the proper nouns’ stopped over to add some vocals. that was a weird weekend.
